In 2009, Jay left the Philippines on a temporary work visa to wash cars in Canada, an ocean away from Gisselle and their eight month old baby. Two years later Gisselle joined him, a registered nurse back home who started over here as a nanny and caregiver.
They earned permanent residency, raised their family, and kept working. Then in 2023 they found real estate investing. Two investment properties later, their newest project is becoming a residential care home for people with disabilities, and they are building a future their kids will inherit while still showing up for their jobs, their family, and the Filipino newcomers who come after them.
